Paul E. Fortin
1921 – 2009
AUBURN — Paul E. Fortin, 88, of Lewiston, died Wednesday, Dec. 16, at the Hospice House in Auburn with his loving wife of 68 years by his side.
Born in Brunswick on May 22, 1921, he was the son of Joseph and Marie Cloutier Fortin. Educated in local schools, he served with the U.S. Navy Seabees during World War II.
On Dec. 27, 1941, he married Enid Henderson. Paul successfully operated a Mobil Service Station on Sabattus Street in Lewiston for many years prior to working for New England Telephone Co. as a mechanic, retiring from Verizon after 30 years.
He was a life member of the Elks Club, enjoyed repairing oak furniture and woodworking, and was an avid golfer, achieving two holes-in-one in his lifetime.
Paul is survived by his wife, Enid; a daughter, Carole; two grandsons, Ethan and wife, Kendra, and Aaron and wife, Lauryn; and three great-grandchildren, Amelia, Noah and Torey.
He was predeceased by his brothers, Christian, Roland, Roger and Marcel; and a sister, Georgette.
