Guild to meet
SOUTH PARIS — The Western Maine Knitting Guild will meet from 10 a.m. to noon
Tuesday, Jan. 5, at the First Congregational Church, 17 East Main St. Speaker will be Marvis Maynard. If there is no school,
there will be no meeting.
Legion dance
SOUTH PARIS — A New Year’s Eve dance will be held from 8 p.m. to 12:30
a.m. Thursday, Dec. 31, at the American Legion Hall, Church Street,
with old-fashioned music by the Jones Dance Band. Lunch will be served
at 9:45 p.m. Cost is singles $12.50, couples $25. Call Betty Decoteau

Saturday event
SOUTH PARIS — The Jones Dance Band will play old-fashioned dance music
at the Legion Hall from 7 to 10 p.m. on Jan. 2, 9, 16, 23 and 30. The
cost is $5. The lunch counter will be open.
Pageant for kids
OXFORD — Kidz Place Learning Center is planning the first annual Oxford Hills kid beauty, dance and cheer pageant, scheduled for early April of 2010.
The beauty pageant is open to area boys and girls between the ages 3 and 12. There is a $25 registration fee. Area teams and individual persons can enter the dance and cheer competition. Pet clinic
NORWAY — Responsible Pet Care will sponsor a rabies vaccination and
micro-chipping clinic from 9 to 11 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 23, at the
Norway Fire Station.
The cost for the rabies clinic is $10 and micro-chipping will cost
$25. Micro-chipping a pet will aid in locating them should a disaster

Socrates Cafe
WATERFORD — The Socrates Café will meet from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Monday, Jan. 4, at the Waterford Library. The group offers a forum to discuss current topics and ideas in a
friendly atmosphere, where divergent views are welcome.
The theme for the meeting is “Preparing for 21st Century

Clothing center open
HARTFORD — The Hartford Community Church Clothing Center will be open from 1 to 2:30 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 2 and 16. The center is located on Church Street, opposite the Hartford Community Church.
Bottle drive
SOUTH PARIS — Boy Scout Troop 130 will have a bottle drive fundraiser for winter camping trips from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 2, at the First Congregational Church, 17 East Main St.
The troop will pick up bottles or returnables may be left at the church or at Don’s Redemption Center, Norway, attention: Troop 130 account.
