DIXFIELD — Two unidentified young women were hurt Saturday afternoon as they were sledding down a steep hill at the end of Fairbanks Avenue.
Med-Care Ambulance Service director Dean Milligan said the two women, estimated to be in their 20s, were either riding on one sled or in tandem on two. They apparently lost control of the sleds and struck a tree, throwing them off.
Fairbanks Avenue is off Weld Street.
The Dixfield Fire Co. and the Rumford Fire Department also responded to the call and helped Med-Care personnel carry the women out of the woods. They were taken to Rumford Hospital as a precautionary measure, Milligan said.
Neither Dixfield Fire Co. Chief Scott Dennett, nor Milligan could provide the names of the two women.
