Legion to meet
LISBON FALLS — Nelson-Conley Post 66, American Legion, will meet at 7 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 6, at the Slovak Hall upstairs
meeting room on Avery Street. All members, prospective members and
active-duty personnel are invited.
Taize workshop
LEWISTON — There will be a Taize workshop service from 3 to 4 p.m.
Friday, Jan. 1, at Trinity Episcopal Church, Bates Street. All are
welcome.
Saturday, Jan. 2, for its monthly open house. Admission
is free. A new collection item on display will be “Jumbo Jim,” a board sawn
from an old pine in New Gloucester. The History
Barn is located directly behind the Town Hall on Route 231.
Seniors to meet
SABATTUS — The Sabattus Senior Citizens first meeting and meal of
the New Year will be held Thursday, Jan. 7. The meal will be meat pie,
followed by a short meeting and bingo. For more

Seniors cooking
LEWISTON — Lewiston Senior Citizens will offer a cooking class on
preparing healthy snacks at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, Feb. 10, in the
Senior Activity Room, Multi-Purpose Center. It will
be the first of a series. The class will last an hour and
include snacks.
The cost to members is $3.
Others may attend for a $5 fee. Registrations must be made no later
than Feb. 3 by calling 784-2926 ext. 207. If the class is
postponed because of weather, a date of Feb. 24 has been scheduled.
African safari
AUBURN — The Auburn-Lewiston Art and Literature Club will meet on
Monday, Jan. 11, at the Women’s Literary Union Club House on Elm
Street. Members will meet in executive session at 1 p.m. Kim Coombs, a
seasoned traveler, will present her program, “African Safari,” at 2:30
p.m. The public is welcome.
Square dancing
SOUTH PARIS — The Swingin’ Bears Square Dance Club has hired Al Hipkins of Brunswick to be its new club caller. His first session on Modern Western Square Dance will be at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 6, and the session will be open free to beginners, age 17 and older. It will take place at the Oxford Hills Middle School, Pine Street.
He will also teach a continuation course to the class that began in September and workshop for club members. The charge is $3 a person a session. Wednesday, Jan. 13, will also be free for anyone coming for the first time if unable to attend Jan. 6. After that all interested may watch but not participate until the next time a class for beginners will take place.

Seniors trips
LEWISTON — Lewiston Senior Citizens are offering a trip to hear the music of
Scotland, England, Ireland and Wales at 2 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 3, at
the Cumberland County Civic Center. The band of the Irish
Guards and dancers of the Royal

An extended trip is offered for Feb. 13 to 28 for the
Dayton Beach winter activity and show tour, which includes dinner

LEWISTON — The Lewiston Senior Citizens Cribbage League winners at
the Multi-Purpose Center on Dec. 24 were: first, Guy Dube and John
Violette; second, Sandy Verville and Ed Madden; third, Sandy Oliver
(two-player table); fourth, Monique Nadeau and Claire Jean; fifth, Pat
Records and Ron Hynes.
The next game will be played at 9 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 31.
