Crashes throughout the region kept authorities busy most of Monday night and well into Tuesday. A dispatcher with the Maine State Police in Gray reported that the agency handled about 70 accidents, while the Androscoggin County Sheriff’s Office handled around 25, according to a dispatcher there.

In Franklin County, the sheriff’s office responded to about 10 crashes, a dispatcher there said, adding that most of the accidents occurred in the southern part of the county around Farmington, Wilton and Jay.

Locally, police in Auburn and Lewiston were dispatched to about 20 crashes.
