LEWISTON — Oxford Networks has announced that Network Technician Becky Downey received the NE Independent Telecommunications Pioneer Association (ITPA) Community Service Award for her work on the Christmas for Kids campaign.
For the past nine years, Downey has led the Oxford Networks Christmas for Kids committee in fundraising that is crucial for the Christmas for Kids program in SAD 39, Buckfield, Sumner and Hartford. The program works to ensure that there are Christmas presents under the tree for children regardless of their financial circumstances. With Downey at the helm, the committee organizes benefit lunches, breakfasts and other fundraisers year round to support the effort.
According to Mike Grant, who nominated his colleague for the award, Oxford Networks is very lucky to have the generous and community minded employee’s that it does and Becky Downey is a shining example of that.
“It is no exaggeration to say that without Becky’s positive, can-do attitude the effort would not occur or be as successful as it is,” said Grant. “Her commitment to her co-workers, company and community is exemplary.”
The award was presented to Downey by ITPA-NE Chapter President Chris Rand. ITPA is the volunteer organization created by and for the independent telecommunications industry.
