AUBURN — Three people were hurt and the Vietnam Veterans Memorial Bridge was briefly closed late Wednesday after a chain-reaction crash.

Police said the injuries were minor, with three suffering scrapes or complaining of pain. The victims were examined at a Lewiston hospital and later released.

Police said ice on the bridge appeared to have caused the four-vehicle wreck at about 9:30 p.m. While police investigated, Public Works crews closed the bridge for about 45 minutes as they cleared and sanded the road. The crash remained under investigation Thursday.
