BATH — Dreamland Theater, a Sagadahoc Preservation Inc. movie series running the second and fourth Thursdays of each month at Winter Street Church, will show Hitchcock’s “North by Northwest” on Jan. 28.
January is suspense month; February will have a romance theme.
Every month, one classic and one contemporary film will be shown.
“The first movie we screened was ‘L.A. Confidential,’ and the next one will be a Hitchcock,” said Nancy Townsend, chair of the Dreamland Theater Committee. Audience members voted for the movies to be shown in February.
“We want to make it a community event. Anyone who brings in a receipt from a local Bath restaurant from that evening can get a free soda and snack from our concessions stand. Or, they can get their food to go and eat during the movie, or bring their own beach chairs and a home-packed picnic. Whatever the audience wants — it’s their movie.”
“We’re calling it Dreamland Theater because there was a movie theater in Bath by that name,” explained SPI Vice President Carolyn Lockwood.
“North by Northwest” will be shown at 7 p.m. Winter Street Church is at 880 Washington St. Doors open at 6 p.m. with old movie serials and cartoons playing on the big screen until the main event begins.
Suggested donation is $5, with all proceeds going toward the continuing restoration of Winter Street Church. For more information, visit www.winterstreetcenter.org.
