LEWISTON — A team captain’s meeting for the American Cancer Society Relay For Life event will be held at 6 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 9, at Andover College, Classroom 5, Lisbon Street.

Relay For Life Event Chairwoman Rebecca Branagan encourages everyone to come to the meeting to find out how to get involved in the annual event. The meeting will feature registration materials, team captain packets, fundraising ideas, photos and testimony from last year’s Relay, and other ways to get involved.

The Relay For Life event in Androscoggin County is scheduled for Friday and Saturday, June 11 and 12, at the Edward Little High School track in Auburn. Anyone interested in joining the planning committee, becoming a team captain, volunteering or just finding out more about Relay For Life is encouraged to attend the meeting.

Relay teams representing families, clubs, religious organizations, neighborhoods and corporations will join the race to beat cancer by celebrating survivorship and taking turns walking around the track. Teams are encouraged to enjoy the music, food and camaraderie of the event.

Last year Relay For Life of Androscoggin raised more than $80,000 toward the fight against cancer. The official fundraising Web site is www.relayforlife.org/androscogginme.
