PERU — A former selectman and a member of the Peru Fire Department have returned nomination papers for the Feb. 18 election for selectman.

Town Clerk Vera Parent said Richard Vaughn, a member of the Peru Road Department and a former selectman who served about eight years ago, and David Vance, a member of the Peru Fire Department and part-time Med-Care Ambulance Service employee are seeking election.

The two are seeking the seat vacated by Eric Horn, who had two-and-a-half years left on his term.

The election is set from noon to 6 p.m. at the Peru Town Office. Parent said absentee ballots are available at the town office from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday.

The winner will join Chairman Jim Pulsifer, Laurieann Milligan, Tim Holland, and Corey Jacques on the board.

The board has begun developing the 2010-11 fiscal year budget. The annual town warrant will be voted on by referendum  June 8.
