Peter G. Provencher
1949 – 2010
LISBON — Peter G. Provencher, 60, of Sabattus Creek Drive in Lisbon, died Monday, Feb. 1, at home surrounded by his family.
He was born in Lewiston, Dec. 31, 1949, a son of Henry R. and Theresa C. (Laverdiere) Provencher. He was educated in local schools, graduating from Lewiston High School, Class of 1970.
He married Diane K. Guimond on Aug. 22, 1970, and together they worked and raised their family in Lisbon. He worked for the Lisbon School Department serving as a bus driver before retiring in 2006 due to health problems. He cherished his time with his family especially traveling with his wife. He had a very mischievous sense of humor which never left him all through his life. His wife Diane was the love of his life and he also had a very special love for his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
He is survived by his wife of almost 40 years, Diane; two daughters, Liana Shmidt and her husband, Carl, of Yokosuka, Japan, and Susan George and her husband, Michael, of Lisbon; his mother, Theresa (Laverdiere) Provencher; eight grandchildren, Chrystal, Liana, Lucas, Carl, Katherine, Dylan, Jacob and Corey; two great-grandchildren, Lillyn and Isaiah; his sister, Cecile Cote and her husband, Gil, of Auburn; and his brother, Norman Provencher and his wife, Janice, of New Hampshire.
He was predeceased by his father, Henry; and his sister, Irene.
