LEWISTON — 4-H clubs in Androscoggin, Sagadahoc and Cumberland county will work with the Lewiston MAINEiacs to raise funds to donate to the United Valley Chapter of the Red Cross to benefit victims of the recent earthquake in Haiti.
Leading up to the Wednesday, Feb. 10 game at the Androscoggin Bank Colisee, 4-Hers will sell tickets to the game for $13 – one dollar less than fans typically pay at the box office. Youth will also hold a raffle during the game for items donated locally, and they will manage the Chuck-A-Puck contest on game night.
“Even with big celebrities raising millions of dollars, 4-Hers decided that they wanted to take a role and do what they could,” said Matthew Fornoff, organizer of the event and AmeriCorps VISTA with University of Maine Extension. “After all, this is an opportunity to make a real difference in the lives of real people when they genuinely need it. That’s what 4-H is all about.”
