J. Eugene Boivin

RUMFORD — On Wednesday, Feb. 3, Fire Department Honors for Retired Chief J. Eugene Boivin were held at Central Station with Chief Robert Chase presiding. A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated at Parish of the Holy Savior (St. Athanasius-St. John Church) with the Rev. Raymond Picard as the celebrant. George Gionet was the altar server. Prior to the Mass, his brother, Retired Chief J. Arthur Boivin sang “J’irai la voir un jour.” Mark Belanger was the organist. Music selections were “Amazing Grace,” “Ave Maria,” “Precious Lord Take My Hand” and “J’irai la voir un jour.” Readings were done by his sisters Jeannette Neuman and Cecile Parker. Gift bearers were Ricky and Dyson Morrow, and Helen and Maurice Morrow. The Fireman’s Prayer was read by his brother, Retired Chief J. Arthur Boivin. Eulogies were given by his nephew Richard Henry and niece Elise Boivin. Pallbearers were Deputy Chief Chris Bryant, Retired Deputy Chief Peter Chase, Retired Deputy Chief Mark Mayo, Retired Lt. Albert Bradley, Retired Pvt. Robert Bradley Sr. and Retired Pvt. Donald Coulombe. Honorary bearers were his son Christopher M. Boivin, nephews Darren Boivn, Frank Henry and Richard Henry, and foster sons Cam Luu and Tracy Sage. Military Honors were rendered by the Maine Military Funeral Honors Program Augusta. Spring interment will be in St. John Cemetery. A reception followed at the American Legion. Arrangements were under the care of SG Thibault Funeral Home.
