Take charge
LEWISTON — The next St. Mary’s Take Charge! community screening is scheduled for Wednesday, Feb. 17.
Take Charge! is a quick and easy screening that includes testing total cholesterol and HDL good cholesterol along with a written health risk assessment, height, weight and blood pressure measurement. As part of the program, participants will receive a personalized review of results and health risks that will be explained by an exercise physiologist, followed by health education.
The cost is $25 and screenings are by appointment only. To schedule an appointment, call Prevention and Wellness at 777-8771.
Open mic
AUBURN — The Pleasant Note Coffeehouse
will present an open mic/poetry slam at 7:15 p.m. Friday, Feb. 12, at the First Universalist Church of
Auburn, 169 Pleasant St. For nearly four years, participants have shared song, music, spoken word and
dance at the free monthly event.

Vendor fair
POLAND — The Poland PTSA Spring Vendor Fair will be held from
9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, March 27, at the Bruce M. Whittier Middle School, Route 26. Admission is free and proceeds will
benefit students in grades kindergarten to eight. Vendors and crafters may call Michelle

La Leche League
AUBURN — Expectant women and breastfeeding mothers are invited to the La
Leche League meeting to be held
at 9:30 a.m. Wednesday, Feb. 10, at 102 Bennett Ave. Babies are welcome. The discussion, “Great Beginnings:
Establishing and Maintaining Breastfeeding,” will focus on preparing to
nurse baby at birth and adjusting to babies’ changing needs as a
family.
All concerns about breastfeeding are welcome for
discussion. For breastfeeding help or directions to the meeting, call the La Leche League leader at 782-6645.
