The elected and appointed officers were installed by Department Commandant Robert Clark. The officers are: Roland Cyr, past adjutant paymaster; John Robbins, commandant; Roger Torres, senior vice commandant; Jack Travis, junior vice commandant; Richard McGuinness, adjutant paymaster; Raymond Lemieux, judge advocate; and Edith Lemieux, associate chaplain and public relations.
After the installation, Richard McGuinness received the Marine of the Year Award and a light lunch was served.
Department Junior Vice Commandant Richard Vargas spoke on membership and State Commandant Richard Clark spoke on the upcoming National Salute to Veterans Patients week, Feb. 8 to 12.
During the week, the VA will invite individuals, veterans groups, military personnel, civic organizations, businesses, schools, local media, celebrities and sport stars to participate in a variety of activities at the VA Medical Center. The event will include special ward visits and Valentine distributions.
