Phoenix Academy of Martial Arts held a belt test on Saturday, Jan. 30. Students tested for various ranks. Testing for children’s ranks were Danielle Carr to Orange Belt and Jason Carr to Brown3. Testing for adults were Purple Belt, Marie Ramsey, Richelle Ramsey, Mike Plourde, Derek Plourde, Tyler Haskins and Trisha Carr; Blue Belt, Jamie McLeod and Tori Carr. The students were tested on their ability to perform required techniques such as punches, blocks and various kicks as well as their required forms both empty hand and weapons forms. They also had to demonstrate self-defense requirements. Phoenix Academy of Martial Arts offers various Martial Arts classes for ages 2 and up, including Toddler Karate, Karate, Kickboxing, Yoga and Women’s Self-Defense.
