Roland R. Wilcox
1938 – 2010
SKOWHEGAN — Roland R. Wilcox, 71, of Phillips, passed away Feb. 1, in Skowhegan, after a long illness.
He was born in Avon, Nov. 14, 1938, to Clifford and Phobe (Ross) Wilcox. He was educated in Phillips and Kingfield, graduating in 1959.
In his early years, he enlisted in the U.S. Army Reserves during the Korean War and later would become a deputy for the Franklin County Sheriff’s Department, serving 24 honorable years. Also during his time with the sheriff’s department, he was appointed constable of Phillips, serving the town proudly.
Survivors include his loving wife of 49 years, Joyce (Lovejoy); a sister, Donna Heath and her husband, Kendall, of Phillips; a brother, Nolan Wilcox and his wife, Lena, of North Carolina; son, Terry Wilcox and his wife, Pat, of Avon; daughter, Sherry Gray and her husband, Stan, of Skowhegan; and grandsons, Tyler and Austin Gray.
He was predeceased by sisters, Hazel, Molly and Evelyn; and beloved dog, Bear-Bear.
