LIVERMORE — Selectpersons have agreed to shift their board meetings to allow all members to attend.

The decision Monday night was to accommodate Selectperson Wayne Timberlake’s work schedule, town administrator Kurt Schaub said Wednesday.

The next regular meeting will be at 7 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 16, due to Presidents Day. The next meeting after that will be at the same time Monday, March 1, at the town office. From then on, the board will meet every Monday at 7 p.m., he said.

In other business, Schaub said, he informed the board that notices of impending foreclosures were mailed Friday to the owners of 15 properties. The outstanding tax liens will automatically foreclose on Thursday, March 18.

Personal checks will be accepted to pay these liens until Thursday, March 4. After that date, all liens covered by these notices must be paid by cash, bank check or U.S. Postal money order, Schaub said.

“Last year at this time, 23 notices were mailed,” he said.

In another financial matter, Schaub said, as of Jan. 31, 52.1 percent of this year’s taxes, real estate and personal property, were collected. At the same time last year, the collection rate was 51.8 percent, he said.

“The collection rate is welcome news in a poor economy, especially when many communities are reporting declining collections,” Schaub said.

The town’s highway garage and transfer station are scheduled to be inspected by the state on Thursday, Feb. 18, and the town office and Fire Department on Monday, March 15. The town requested the inspections by representatives of Safety Works, which is operated by the Maine Department of Labor.

“Safety Works inspectors will let us know of any shortcomings that might result in fines” if there was an Occupational Safety and Health Administration inspection, Schaub said.
