Lisbon – Thanks to a partnership formed with Kohl’s in Auburn, on Wednesday, January 27, the Lisbon School Department Librarians met at Lisbon High School to sort and distribute a donation of books by Kohl’s. Everyone knows books are good for children, and Kohl’s brings new meaning to the idea of books benefiting America’s youth. Since the inception of Kohl’s Cares for Kids® in 2000, more than $126 million for children’s initiatives nationwide have provided affordable books for millions of eager readers.

Kohl’s Cares for Kids® earmarks net profits for initiatives such as injury prevention, immunizations and education programs for diabetes, asthma and childhood obesity, among others. The program was created as a commitment to the communities they serve. Every day, Kohl’s directs time, effort and funding toward children’s health and education. In fact, 100% of the net profits from the sale of Kohl’s Cares for Kids® merchandise is donated to support children’s health and education initiatives nationwide.

Part of the book donation will also be used in the Lisbon Early Academic Readiness Network (LEARN), a new group trying to improve reading readiness in kids before they come to kindergarten.

Kohl’s Cares for Kids® is proof that a little love goes a long way and a good book can positively impact children far beyond story time.
