HEBRON – Ben Wigant netted a pair of goals Wednesday as Lewiston skated to a 3-0 victory over Poland/Gray-New Gloucester in a Class A boys’ hockey game Wednesday.

Wigant put the Blue Devils (13-2-1) up 1-0 in the first period with an assist from Nick Mathon. Sam Cloutier fed a nice pass to Mathon in the second frame to make it 2-0, then Wigant tallied an unassisted goal in the third to seal the win.

Cam Poussard made 11 saves for Lewiston to record the shutout. Matt Ouellette turned aside 33 shots between the pipes for Gray-New Gloucester.

Cape Elizabeth 2, Leavitt 1, OT

TURNER – Nick Breed drilled a shot into the net with 3:24 left in overtime to lift Cape Elizabeth to a 2-1 victory over Leavitt in boys’ hockey action Wednesday.

Tyler Hutchinson gave the Hornets (8-9) a 1-0 advantage in the first period. The Capers (8-9) answered shortly after when Sam St. Germain tallied an unassisted goal to tie the contest.

Bill Jordan made 25 saves for Cape to earn the win, while Cody Violette turned aside 20 shots between the pipes for Leavitt.

Hebron 2, Berwick 0

HEBRON – Chris Gacsy and Andy Bettencourt both tallied goals for Hebron as they skated to a 2-0 victory over Berwick in Prep School boys’ hockey matchup Wednesday.

Hebron outshot Berwick 52-15 in this low-scoring affair. Anthony Avitable made 15 saves to preserve the shutout. Derek Lavigne turned aside an impressive 50 shots between the pipes for Berwick.

Girls’ hockey

Hebron 7, Berwick 1

BERWICK — Sarah Markey netted four goals Wednesday as Hebron hustled to a 7-1 rout over Berwick on the girls’ side of a prep school hockey game.

Maggie Lane also contributed for Hebron with a hat trick to complete the scoring. Lauren Yomantas made eight saves to notch the victory.

Becky Farrell tallied the lone goal for Berwick, while Chelsea Vanderline turned back a whopping 43 shots in net.

Boys’ basketball

Hebron 63, Berwick 54

HEBRON – Mason Lopez netted a game-high 31 points to propel Hebron to a 63-54 victory over Berwick in a Prep School boys’ basketball tilt Wednesday.

After holding a slim one-point lead at the break, Hebron used a 32-24 second-half run to pull away for the win. Jean Baptiste chipped in with 15 points for Hebron in a balanced attack.
