JAY — Commander John Judd of the Frank L. Mitchell Post 3335, Veterans
of Foreign Wars, and the auxiliaries, have announced
dances for members and guests to be held at the post home. The dances will
raise funds for such programs as Operation Uplink and the VFW
National Home for Children.
The Valentine’s dinner and dance on Saturday, Feb. 13, will feature a social hour and a sit-down meal with a choice of entrees that will be served by volunteer waiters, followed by dancing to the music of the Scott Perry Band
The pajama dance will make its return on Saturday, Feb. 27. A DJ will provide music for dancing from 8 p.m. to midnight, and snacks will be provided. Everyone attending must be decently covered.
The final dance will be a St. Patrick’s Day party on Saturday, March 13. It will also include a dinner, with final plans to be announced.
Operation Uplink provides phone cards for active duty personnel serving outside the U.S. as well as for hospitalized veterans. Uplink funds also help provide e-mail access so that veterans who are away from their families may keep in touch.
The VFW National Home is a facility devoted entirely to the care of the children and families of veterans. It is located in Eaton Rapids, Mich.
Tickets for the dances must be purchased in advance by calling the post at 897-5112, after noon. Tickets are still available for the Valentine’s dinner and dance, and tickets for the pajama dance will go on sale Monday, Feb. 15.
