DEAR SUN SPOTS: I am looking to replace my hair dryer or perhaps just the bonnet. My hair dryer is a soft bonnet by Lady Carel, model number 173005. I will really appreciate any help I receive on this.

Also, I am looking for a carousel slide tray projector. I have many carousel slide trays, and I need to sort them out. I can be reached at 783-1149. Thank you. — No Name, Lewiston

ANSWER: Sun Spots didn’t have much luck with your Lady Carel. There were only two listed on eBay, and she didn’t find a regular retail source for purchasing them. There do seem to be more options in soft bonnet dryers if you change brands. At shopping.com they had several options. Sun Spots hopes that someone in the hair salon business can be more helpful.

As for the carousel slide projector, the Kodak Web site said they discontinued manufacturing them in 2004, but there were many listed on eBay, and amazon.com (1-866-216-1072) sells them as well. Also, someone in the community might have one they’d be willing to part with.

DEAR SUN SPOTS: I am looking for someone to appraise an old violin (bought before 1930). Please call me at 778-4084. Thanks for your help. — Louise

FOLLOWUP ON MADISON’S TANNING: On Friday, a letter writer referred Madison’s customers to Paul Bulick as power of attorney for that establishment. Sun Spots spoke to Mr. Bulick, and he said that is not accurate, and he does not want calls from customers of Madison’s. Sun Spots should have checked with him first, and she apologizes for any inconvenience to him or her readers.
