LEWISTON — Free Grace Presbyterian Church has begun meeting at 5 p.m. every first and third Sunday, above Espo’s Trattoria, 134 Main St.

Free Grace is a congregation of the Presbyterian Church in America, but all are welcome to attend. The Rev. Per Almquist and his wife, Beth, believe God has called them permanently to the Lewiston-Auburn area and to plant a church welcoming to everyone, regardless of denominational.

Per and their three young sons study karate at Pelletier’s Karate Academy and Beth is the “Story Lady” at the Lewiston Public Library and a member of the Midcoast Symphony Orchestra, where she plays the French horn. The Almquists met during their undergraduate studies at Johns Hopkins University and both hold advanced degrees from Covenant Theological Seminary in St. Louis, Mo.

The church will sponsor a bowling event from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 17, at Sparetime Recreation. The church will pay the tab for people of all ages to enjoy an evening of bowling.

Free Grace will also provide the goodies for a Family Movie Time, to be hosted by the Lewiston Public Library at 2 p.m. Saturday, March 6. The free movie will be suitable
for kids of all ages.

The church has also begun Jordan’s Bridge Christian Counseling, which offers counseling from a Christian perspective by Ken Morris, a licensed clinical professional counselor.
