LEWISTON — The YWCA of Central Maine will offer American Red Cross Lifeguard Training from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sundays, Feb. 28, March 7, 14 and 21.

The course will teach students the knowledge and skills essential to prevent, and if necessary, respond to aquatic emergencies appropriately. The course will include American Red Cross CPR/AED for professional rescuers and standard first aid.

Participants must be at least 15 years of age and complete a 300-yard swim and timed deep water object removal prerequisite to starting the course. The prerequisite tests will take place on the first day of classes.

The cost for YWCA members is $225; nonmembers, $250. Space is limited and registrations need to be in by Tuesday, Feb. 23. For more information or to register, call the YWCA of Central Maine at 795-4050 or e-mail [email protected].
