LEWISTON — The National Active and Retired Federal Employees Association will meet at 11:30 a.m. Tuesday, Feb. 23, at the Ramada Inn. A social half hour will be followed by lunch at noon. After the speaker, there will be a business meeting with reading of the minutes and old and new business discussion.
Guest speaker will be Mike Morin, owner of Mike Morin’s Auto Center, 1122 Center St., Auburn. His topic will be car care, specifically on the importance of keeping track of oil changes, checking batteries, tire pressure, belts and hoses. He will also discuss car care for the summer months.
Morin started his own business in 1996 and has been at the same location since opening. The facility has been awarded “Best of the Best Auto Repair Shop” for the past 11 years and also received the Small Business Leadership Award for 2008 from the L/A Chamber of Commerce.
Born and raised in Lewiston, a graduate of Lewiston High School and a US Navy veteran, Morin started working in the automotive field in 1973 and worked at a local dealership washing cars, then eventually moved into management before starting his own business.
A Kora Temple member of the Klown Unit, he is also a Master Mason with Tranquil Lodge 29, a member of the Bradford Royal Arch. He is married and has five children and three grandchildren.
Plans for the meeting were made at a recent board meeting at the home of Vi Dumais. Attending were Joanne Morse, Martha Robinson, Doris Hamel and Richard St. Amand.
Those attending are urged to bring friends, spouses or active or retired federal employees. New members are welcome.
