AUBURN — The Criminal Justice Program at Central Maine Community College will host a symposium titled “Leadership in Maine’s Evolving Corrections System” from 8 a.m. to 3:15 p.m. Friday, Feb. 26, in the Kirk Hall auditorium on the CMCC campus, 1250 Turner St.

The lead presenter will be Bob Hood, a former warden of the Supermax Federal Prison in Colorado. Hood is a nationally recognized expert in corrections, emergency planning and national security.

He has been featured on network television, including “60 Minutes,” and has been identified by Security Magazine as one of the “Top 25 Most Influential People in the Security Industry.” He is currently a national security specialist with the Safran Group.

Hood’s two sessions will focus on “Effective Leadership: Proactive Approaches for all Criminal Justice Environments.”

Other presenters will include the following: Neil MacLennan, “Community Corrections: The Evolution of Maine’s Community and Committed Juveniles in Corrections”; Gary LaPlante, chief of security, Maine Correctional Center, “Classification Process and Procedures at the Maine Correctional Center”; Jeff Morin, director, Charleston Correctional Facility, “Status Report: How Maine is Complying with Mandates of the Prison Rape Elimination Act of (PREA) of 2003”; and Mark Dion, Cumberland County Sheriff, “The Future of Corrections.”
