Gladys L. Cummings
1926 – 2010

NORWAY — Gladys L. (Corson) Cummings, 83, died peacefully Feb. 22, at Stephens Memorial Hospital, with family by her side.

She was born in Bar Harbor, June 10, 1926. She grew up and attended schools in Auburn, graduating from Edward Little High School. On June 28, 1944, she married Charles Linwood Cummings of Auburn.

She was a homemaker and operated a day care for more than 30 years, being called “Auntie” by her many “kids.” She was a dedicated member of the Norway Nazarene Church, having served as a Sunday school teacher and missionary president for several years.

She will be dearly missed by sister, Florence Corson of Orono; son, Charles Roland (Kathi) Cummings of Leeds; daughter, Pat (Dave) Garnett of Hempstead, Texas; son-in-law, Arthur Westgate Sr. of Poland; grandchildren, Michael and Chris Horbovetz, Carol (Bob) Johnson, Arthur Jr. (Katie) Westgate, Bobby Westgate and Alan Westgate; three great-grandchildren; one step-great-grandson; dear friends, Edna and Tom Twitchell of Oxford and family; and all members of her church “family.”

She joins her husband, Linwood, daughter, Linda C. Westgate and granddaughter, April Marie, her parents and brothers, Frank and Joel.
