Students at Park Avenue Elementary School in Auburn shot off to a good start in 2010 through the school’s annual Reading Incentive Program. This year’s theme was “Rocket Up to Reading.” Beginning Jan. 15, students were allowed to choose from an array of books purchased by the PTO. Every student was given a reading log to fill out with their new book. For the next three Fridays, students presented their logs to show they had completed their reading goals, then chose a new book for the week. Students had a great time picking out their books and taking them home to keep, and they earned more than 1,100 books during the program. Pictured with their new books, from left, are Cameron Robinson, Austin Dumont, Sumaya Daror and Sabrynna Halsey.
