A lively runaway was threatened in Auburn Saturday when the horses attached to the Standard Oil wagon became frightened when in front of Penley’s block on Turner Street and started to run. There was no driver on the team and but for a telegraph pole which brought the team up with a snub, it is believed the horses would have gotten a good start before they could have been stopped.

The manager of the Lisbon Drive-In Theater the past eight years, Joseph P. Donahue, has been named manager of the Seekonk Family Drive-In Theater in Seekonk, R.I. Both are part of the Rifkin Drive-In Theater chain. Previously, Donahue was manager of the Community Theater in New Auburn. Ronnie Belanger, assistant manager of the Lisbon theater the past two summers, will succeed Donahue.

Auburn’s winter parking ban will continue but relief parking areas will be added starting next year to take the pressure off crowded narrow streets, the City Council decided Monday night at a public workshop.
The Community Development Department provided city councilors with information outlining five possible courses of action to respond to a petition from residents who complained that they are experiencing difficulty finding places to park while the ban is in place.
