RANGELEY — The Subdudes, a New Orleans band with a rock-based sound, will bring its blending of blues, gospel, funk and R&B with harmonic vocals to Saddleback on Saturday, March 13.
Band members are Tim Cook, bass and vocals; Tommy Malone on vocals and acoustic, electric and slide guitars; John Magnie, vocals, accordion, keyboards; Steve Amedée, tambourine, drums, other percussions and vocals; and Jimmy Messa, bass and guitar.
Their sound is distinguished by the band’s substitution of a tambourine player for a drummer.
The group’s latest release, “Flower Petals,” its fourth studio effort since 2003, is a departure from previous albums. The songs, which have an Old West flavor, are set at the turn of the century and are mostly told from the point of view of a soldier who has passed on.
The show will begin at 8 p.m. in the base lodge. Tickets, $28, are available online at www.saddlebackmaine.com, at the base lodge or by calling 866-918-2225.
Upcoming Saddleback concerts will feature Pogey, on March 20; and the Derailers, on March 27.
