Eleanor Hunter

1941 – 2010

PALM DESERT, Calif. — Eleanor Hunter, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and dear friend went to be with our Lord on Feb. 18.

Ellie, as she was known to her family and friends, was born in Brockton, Mass., on Nov. 21, 1941, to Lawrence and Thelma Swanson. She attended public schools in Clinton, Maine, where she met the love of her life, Leroy “Roy.” Ellie and Roy were married on Jan. 3, 1959.

Ellie graduated from the University of Maine at Farmington and went on to teach in Jackman, and later, for several years in Lisbon. Ellie then retired from teaching so she could spend more time with her grandchildren, Bible studies, sewing, crafts and golf. She also joined her husband in running their own successful business, RoyEl Management. A few years later, Roy and Ellie decided to spend their retirement somewhere warmer and purchased a home in Palm Desert, Calif. However, they continued to travel to Maine for the summer months to visit family and friends.

Ellie had a wonderful ability to share unconditional love, joy and laughter with everyone who was blessed to have known her and we will all miss her greatly.

Ellie is survived by her devoted and loving husband, Roy; three daughters, Gail Hunter of Auburn, Susan Towns and her husband, Anthony, of Livermore, and Linda Miller of Trabuco Canyon, Calif.; as well as three granddaughters, Christine, Hannah and Kylie, and one great-grandson, Isaiah. She is also survived by one brother, Lawrence Swanson of Unity.
