1947 – 2010

AUBURN — James F. Carr passed away on Sunday, March 7, in the loving arms of his wife, Susan, beloved daughter, Courtney and dear friend, Sarah at the Androscoggin Hospice House, after a courageous battle with Frontotemporal Dementia.

He was born in Milwaukee, Wis., to William and Ann Carr on May 19, 1947. Educated in the Milwaukee public schools, he was a graduate of Pius XI High School.

He was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force, attaining the rank of sergeant and served during the Vietnam War. He was a member of the Vittori-Rocci Post 56 Italian American War Veterans of Beverly.

He was employed as a manger in manufacturing and worked at various companies including Seaton Corp. Before retiring, he finished his career as the manager of Vacationland Campground in Harrison and then worked for a season at Papoose Campground in Waterford. They were dream jobs for a man who so loved the outdoors.

He is survived by his wife and devoted caregivers, Susan L. Catalli-Carr, daughter, Courtney L. Woods and mother-in-law, Barbara L. Catalli, all of Maine; stepsons, Jeffrey and Stephen Woods of Haverhill; sister, Cindy (Greg) Sobczak of Wisconsin; brothers, William Carr (Marilyn) of Wisconsin, and Dennis Carr (Pamela) of Louisiana; the joy of his life were his two grandsons, Dylan and Diego, with whom he shared a love of fishing, camping and gardening; many nieces, nephews and cousins; two daughters, Jacquline and Rachel Carr; and two grandchildren, Charles and Catherine.
