John ‘Jack’ D. Ahern

AUBURN — John (Jack) Douglas Ahern, 66, of Oxford formerly of Manchester, N.H., died Tuesday, March 9, at the Hospice House with his son Jonathan Simoneau and his close friend Philip Perkins.

He was born in Manchester, N.H., to Leonard and Anna Smith Ahern. He was a graduate of Central High School in Manchester. He faithfully served his country in the U.S. Army Airborne. Jack liked to fish, and hunt. He was well-known for his jolly type personality.

He was a member of the Manchester fire department for more than 22 years retiring on March 13, 1987. After retiring, he moved to Maine.

He is survived by his children, Jonathan Simoneau, Deborah Normand and husband, David, Judith Puglisi, and John Ahern Jr. and wife, Lorie; a sister, Joan Wright-Reno; grandchildren, Jack and Hunter Normand, Mikayla Ahern and Lindsey Ahern; and a special friend, Philip Perkins.

He was predeceased by a brother, Jay Ahern.

The family would like to expressed their gratitude for the compassionate care that was given to John while at the Hospice House.
