DEAR SUN SPOTS: I would like to find out if my father’s name has been added to the Veterans Memorial wall in Lewiston. I have been unable to check the wall myself for this information and was wondering if there may be a Web site that lists the names on the wall? My father’s name was Alfred Leclair Jr. from Lewiston, and he served in the Army. Thank you. — Tracy Michaud, Auburn

ANSWER: There is no such Web site, but the records are computerized. You need to talk to Paul Bernard at the L & A Veterans Council. He can see if your father’s name has been added, and if so, tell you which stone it is on and all the details of his service.

Paul also said that they are getting ready to unveil their 19th stone on Memorial Day, and that there are still a couple dozen spaces available if any veterans would like to be included. The veterans do not need to live in Lewiston-Auburn or be deceased to be included.

You can call Paul at 225-3285, write to him at 451 Lower St., Turner, ME 04282 or e-mail laveteranscouncil@megalink.net.

DEAR SUN SPOTS: Can you tell me where we can take prescription drugs to be disposed of? I read an article regarding not to dispose of such in the trash or down the drain but now don’t remember and also is it a law?

Can you also tell me where I can purchase some houseplants such as lady palm, areca palm, golden pothos and rubber plants. I understand they make for cleaner air in the home. — No Name, Lewiston
