Jeanne d’arc Tardif

1921 – 2010

FARMINGTON — Jeanne d’arc Tardif, 88, of Jay, died Friday evening, March 12, at Sandy River Rehabilitation Center in Farmington.

She was born on Nov. 7, 1921, in Courcelle, Quebec Canada, the daughter of Josephat and Blanche (Bizier) Couture. She attended school in Jay.

On June 26, 1939, at St. Rose of Lima Church, she married her husband of 50 years, Andrea Emile Tardif. He passed away May 10, 1990.

Jeanne worked for Norwock Shoe in North Jay for 37 years and Bass Shoe until her retirement in 1984.

She was a communicant of St. Rose of Lima Church, member of St. Rose Choir, Ladies of St. Anne, East Livermore Grange and the Jay-Livermore Falls Senior Citizens. She enjoyed home crafts, such as quilting, knitting and ceramics. She loved ballroom dancing, camping and fishing with family and friends. Jeanne loved the moments spent with her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, and attending family functions.

She is survived by her son, Richard Tardif and his wife, Gloria; her daughter, Elaine Henry and her husband, Pete; two brothers, Real Couture and his wife, Florence, and Rene Couture and his wife, Joyce, and her brother-in-law Norman Doiron and his wife, Elaine, all of Jay; three grandchildren, Karen Trask of Saco, Duane Tardif and his wife, Barbara, of Greene, and Jason Tardif and his wife, Andrea, of Waterville; 10 great-grandchildren, Katy and Tucker Trask, Shawn Henry, Caleb Jordan, Evan, Alex, Felicity and Logan Tardif, and twins, Colby and Trevor Tardif; and many nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by her brother, Paul Couture; and her sister, Arlene Doiron.
