LEWISTON — SeniorsPlus, in conjunction with AARP and Maine’s Office of Elder Services, will offer AARP’s Money Management Program to qualifying older adults starting April 1.

Through the program, SeniorsPlus will match a volunteer bill payer with an older adult who needs help keeping their finances in order. The volunteer will visit the client once or twice a month and will provide simple checkbook balancing and bill paying services.

The client will retain control of their finances at all times, according to Connie Jones, director of community services. The program’s goal is to support independence for older adults who need just a little assistance in managing their finances.

There are certain income and asset guidelines for eligibility. For more information, call SeniorsPlus at 1-800-427-1241 or 795-4010.
