Dorothy ‘Dorsie’ Lombard
1919 – 2010

OTISFIELD — As the sun danced across the frosty fields of her home town on March 10, our beloved Aunt Dorsie finished her life’s journey.

Dorothy (Dyer) Lombard was born, May 30, 1919, to Benjamin and Grace Spiller Dyer at the family farm in Otisfield. She attended Bell Hill and East Otisfield Elementary schools and graduated from Norway High School in 1938. She married Clifton (Uncle Bo) E. Lombard in 1942, settling into his home located at Spurr’s Corner, where they enjoyed gardening and family gatherings. She remained living there after his death in 1972 and continued to take pleasure in her daily walks and visiting with neighbors.

Dot, as she was known to some, was a dedicated employee at Camp Powhatan for many years and later for SAD17 as a custodian. During her free time, she was an active member of the Otisfield Firemen’s Auxiliary, Historical Society, Republican Party, East Otisfield Free Baptist Church and volunteered at the Otisfield Community School reading programs.

Dorsie will be remembered for her independent nature, warm smile and her love for children of all ages.

Survivors include nephews, Keith Dyer of Sharon Springs, N.Y., and Garry and wife, Debbie Dyer, of Otisfield; nieces, Grace and husband, Wayne Dillon, of Brownville, Patricia and husband, Albert Haggerty, of Otisfield and Nancy Dyer Landry of Norway; a special grandnephew, George Galarneau, who resided with his aunt so she could maintain her independent life style; numerous grandnieces and nephews, who will surly miss their “aunt Dorsie.”

She was predeceased by her parents; older sister, Margilia Hamlin; and older brothers, G. Howard and Ralph (Pat) Dyer.
