Elaine C. Hutchins

1950 – 2010

SCARBOROUGH — Elaine C. Hutchins, 60, of Portland, after a courageous and inspiring nine-year battle with breast cancer, peacefully passed away Monday, March 15, with her loving family by her side.

She was born in Portland, Jan. 22, 1950, the fourth child of Louis and Mary Albert. In her early years, she lived on Sewall Street and attended St. Patrick’s Grammar School. When the Albert family later moved to Lewiston, she attended St. Joseph’s Grammar School and Lewiston High School.

On Dec. 8, 1972, in St. Mary’s Church in Augusta, she married Paul Hutchins of Michigan. She worked as a nurses aide, a waitress, a maintenance worker, and other positions, all in support of her principal role as a mother of two.

Honest and fun-loving, she lived each day as she saw fit. Fond of all things social, she enjoyed games, conversations, and dinners with friends and family. Artistically gifted, she also enjoyed quiet times, when she could pensively draw, complete puzzles, or color. Generous with all she had, she freely shared her time, her talents, her stories, and her smile.

She enjoyed her journey through life, befriending everyone she met along the way.

She is survived by her daughter, Rebecca Daniels; her son-in-law, Zachary Daniels; her grandchildren, Gabriel and Kelsey Daniels of Buxton; her son, Zachary Hutchins of North Waterboro; her sister, Ann Marie Albert of Scarborough; her brother, Lou Albert and his wife, Sherri, of Portland; her brother, Brian Albert and his wife, Judy, of Lewiston; several cousins, aunts, uncles, nephews and nieces; and an abundance of special friends.

A beloved mother, grandmother, sister, daughter, and friend, she was predeceased by her parents; and her brother, Mark Albert.
