John ‘Jack’ Rea

1934 – 2010

JAY — John “Jack” Rea, 76, a resident of Jewell Street, died unexpectedly Monday, March 15, at his home.

He was born Jan. 6, 1934, in Livermore Falls, the son of Josesph C. and Alice A. (Gingras) Rea. He served in the U.S. Marine Corps from 1952 to 1955. Upon his return, he went back to Livermore Falls High School and was a graduate of the class of 1956. He continued his education at Bentley Business College in Boston and later went to meat cutting school in Rhode Island.

He married Shirley Belanger, they later divorced. “Jack” worked for Sampson’s and Hannaford supermarkets as a meat cutter for more than 30 years. He enjoyed watching golf and was avid Red Sox fan. He loved working in his garden and spending time with his cat Sam.

He is survived by two sisters, Joan Fleury and her husband, Raymond, of Winthrop and Corinne Rea of East Livermore; three nephews, Nick Rea, and Doug and Glenn Fleury; two nieces, Pam and Kim Fleury; and several cousins, great-nieces and great-nephews.

He was predeceased by his parents.
