Students in the Computer Club and Skills USA at Lewiston Regional Technical Center collected 150 DVDs and donated them to the Movies for Soldiers program. The project was started by the local Red Cross to send DVDs to the troops serving in the Middle East. Accepting for the Red Cross was Russ Donahue, Red Cross board member. Accepting for the Sons of The American Legion was Bruce Pierce, state commander. The Sons have collected more than 1,500 DVDs and funds to pay for shipping since joining the effort two years ago. The Sons introduced the students to the program last fall when they and Crystal Morris, their club advisor/teacher, set a goal of 150 DVDs by Christmas. Their next goal is to collect 150 CDs for the troops. Used music CDs may be dropped off at Lewiston High School.
