M. Theresa York

1930 – 2010

RUMFORD — M. Theresa York, 79, died Thursday, March 18, at her residence in Rumford. She resided on Swain Road in Rumford.

She was born in Rumford, Aug. 8, 1930, a daughter of Peter and Lozia (Richards) Cunningham. She attended Rumford schools. She worked as a certified nursing assistant and later worked for Boise Cascade Paper Mill in Rumford for more than 20 years and retired from the roll wrap department.

She was a communicant of the Parish of the Holy Savior, St. Athanasius-St. John Church and was a former member of Rumford Falls Aerie 1248, FOE Auxiliary.

She was married in Rumford, Dec. 8, 1959, to the late Elmer M. York, who died in Portland, Oct. 11, 1985.

Survivors include three sons, Mark and his wife, Teresa, of Wichita Falls, Texas, Ricky York of Rumford and John York and his wife, Gina, of Oak Harbor, Wash.; a daughter, Debbie Gallant and her companion, Christopher Arsenault; grandchildren, Shawn York and his wife, Andrea, of Rumford, Kris York of Rumford, Brady Gallant and his fiancé, Samantha Arsenault, of Mexico, Tyler Gallant of Rumford, Jamie York of Tennessee, Ty York , Tony York, Troy York, all of Tacoma, Wash., Alec Castillo of Oak Harbor, Wash., Dominique Ducharme and Devon Ducharme of Pomona, Calif., Jamie Lujan of Gallanton, Tenn., and Heather Cexton of Buloxi, Miss.; five great-grandchildren, Delanie Lujan of Gallanton, Tenn., Madison Lujan of Gallanton, Tenn., Emma Gallant of Mexico and Kaitlin and Jacob York of Rumford; brothers, Peter Cunningham and his wife, Jean, of Rumford, William “Baldy” Cunningham of Rumford and Arthur Cunningham and his wife, Madeline, of Rumford.

She was predeceased by her husband; her parents; a daughter, Vickie McNeil; a brother, Fred Cunningham; and sisters, Dot Myles, Margaret Thibideau and Alva Gallant.
