Richard E. Weagle
1949 – 2010

AUBURN — Richard E. Weagle, 61, of 586 Pleasant St., Lewiston, passed away Friday, March 19, at the Hospice House of Androscoggin Home Care and Hospice.

He was born in Ipswich, Mass., Jan. 14, 1949, the son of George E. and Doris J. Smith Weagle. He was educated in Ipswich schools, graduating from Ipswich High School in 1969. He served his country in the U.S. Navy during the Vietnam era and was honored with the National Defense Medal, Vietnam Campaign Medal and Vietnam Gallantry Cross.

He was married March 8, 1975 to Susan Feltis. He was a member and past commander of VFW Post 1093, past district (No. 14) commander of VFW, John T. Heard Lodge AF and AM and past patron of Heard Chapter 94, Order of the Eastern Star.

He loved the great outdoors and enjoyed fishing, hunting and camping.

He is survived by his wife, Susan of Lewiston; a daughter, Amy DuBois and husband, David, of Hamilton, Mass.; a son, William Weagle and his fiancée, Elizabeth O’Shea, of Hamilton, Mass.; a granddaughter, Samantha DuBois; his father, George Weagle and friend, Kate Atkinson, of Ipswich, Mass.; two sisters, Carol Allen and husband, William, of Ipswich, Mass., and Joyce Barnes and husband, Alex Chase, of Amesbury, Mass.; a brother, Jeffrey Weagle and companion of Florida; and nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by his mother.
