Adan Hussein, left, and Ali Shongole, both of Lewiston, select a pair of shoes at the Somali Bantu office in Lewiston on Friday. The Good Shepherd Food-Bank in Auburn donated more than 800 pair of shoes to the Somali Bantu office to be distributed to low-income families. Bantu office Director Sheikh Mohamed said he was very grateful to the food bank for their donations — that it means a lot to recipients to have weather-appropriate shoes. Shoe recipient Ali Shongole said he was thankful because the money he would have spent on shoes can now go toward buying food.
