Literacy Volunteers-Androscoggin was the recipient of a donation from Wei Li Restaurant from proceeds raised recently at the Auburn eatery’s annual Chinese New Year buffet. Wei Li co-owner Yu Li Huang learned to speak and write English through tutors provided by the local literacy organization after her arrival from China 12 years ago, and she was honored last year as one of Literacy Volunteers’ most notable success stories statewide. Pictured with Huang, right, are her daughters Katie, front, and Mai, and LVA director Tahlia Chamberlain, left. Funds from the restaurant’s Chinese New Year benefit event also went to support multicultural programming for youth at the Lewiston Public Library.
