Exercise classes

PARIS — Stretching and strength exercise classes will be offered from 9 to 9:45 a.m. Fridays, April 9, 16, 23 and 30, at the First Congregational Church, 17 East Main St., South Paris.

The cost is $20 for the series, with all proceeds to benefit the Rape Education and Crisis Hotline. The fee can be paid at the first class.

The classes will be led by Nancy Willard, retired professor of physical education at USM.

REACH has been providing crisis intervention and support services since 1981 to children and adults throughout Oxford County. In addition, REACH presents personal safety programs in grades kindergarten to 12 to raise awareness and reduce the risk of sexual victimization of children.

Easter services

OXFORD — The Oxford Advent Christian Church will hold services Friday, April 2, and Sunday, April 4, in observance of Holy Week.

A Good Friday service is planned at 6:30 p.m. April 2 at the church on Route 26. The focus will be on the crucifixion of Christ.

On Sunday at 6:15 a.m., there will be an Easter sonrise service on the lawn in front of the church. Breakfast will be served in the dining hall afterward.

A resurrection celebration will be held in the church sanctuary at 10 a.m. with worship in music and message. Lead Pastor Frank Jewett will speak.

All are invited. A nursery is available during the 10 a.m. service. Sunday school classes are scheduled from 8:30 to 9:30 a.m.

Sunrise service

WEST PARIS — The West Paris Baptist Church will hold a sunrise service at 6:30 a.m. Easter Sunday, April 4, at the North Paris Federated Church. It will be followed at 8 a.m. by an Easter breakfast at the West Paris Baptist Church. The Easter service will be at 9 a.m.; there will be no Sunday school.

The Mission Congregational Church will hold an Easter service at 11 a.m.

 Seniors luncheon

WEST PARIS — The West Paris Senior Citizens will hold their first meeting and luncheon of 2010 at noon Tuesday, April 6, at Michael’s Restaurant in Norway.

PARIS — The Oxford County Cooperative Extension Office in South Paris has been designated as a distribution point for surplus commodity food (grains, canned meat and fruit, cheese, evaporated milk) for low-income seniors age 60 and older.

Those who qualify may pick up the 30-pound box in the morning of the second Wednesday of every monthly starting April 14. If interested, call the Oxford County Extension Office at 1-800-287-1482 or 743-6329.

Easter sermon

PARIS — “Made like Him…..” will be Silver Moore-Leamon’s Easter sermon at the 10 a.m. service of the First Universalist Church, 36 Pine S., South Paris. Renee Wales will lead the Sunday school and Forest Perkins will direct the music. The coffee hour will follow in Good Cheer Hall. Child care will be provided. Everyone is welcome.
