Parishioners of the West Auburn Congregational Church gather on top of Hersey Hill in Minot for an Easter sunrise service on Sunday. “This is so wonderful,” said Karen Ellis, the wife of the Rev. John Ellis. “People love the tradition of coming out at sunrise,” said Rev. Ellis. Fifty-four people gathered on what was once grazing land for dairy cows. Farm owner George Buker has built three crosses since he started hosting the sunrise service 30 years ago. “We wore the other two out,” said Rev. Ellis.
