Auburn — Michel R. “Mike” Delcourt, 59, of Lewiston passed away Thursday afternoon, April 8, at The Hospice House with family at his side following a tough battle with lung cancer.

He was born in Lewiston on May 22, 1950, a son of Raymond and Vivian (Rancourt) Delcourt. He was educated in local schools and graduated from St. Dom’s with the class of 1968. Following high school, he attended Wentworth Institute of Technology, graduating in 1970. On May 27, 1972, he married his sweetheart, the former Estelle A. Dumais of Lewiston.

He worked 24 years for U.P.S., starting as a driver and working his way up to management. He served over 10 years as a Telecommunications Manager in New York City until his retirement in 2000. He was a member of Prince of Peace Parish at Holy Family Church, the Knights of Columbus Council 106 and the Wallace Assembly 4th Degree. Among his favorite enjoyments were spending time with his grandchildren, playing games, cards, especially Pinochle, and challenging himself with computer games. He was also a movie buff. He loved going to the movies just about every Friday evening with friends and family, and also enjoyed watching movies at home. He loved riding his motorcycle as he and Estelle often took motorcycle trips to different places, like Canada, upstate New York, New Hampshire, and the Maine coast. He enjoyed taking care of his home and keeping the landscaping meticulously maintained. He was a loving, devoted and hard-working husband, father, grandfather, uncle, godfather and friend who will be dearly missed.

He leaves his wife of 37 years, Estelle Delcourt of Lewiston; two daughters, Nicole Bloom of Manchester, N.H., and Michelle Delcourt and her significant other, Kevin Lindquist, of Sherman, Conn.; three grandchildren, Stephanie Bloom, Ryan Bloom and Katelyn Lindquist; his mother, Vivian Delcourt of Lewiston; two brothers, Donald Delcourt of Livonia, Mich., and Thomas Delcourt and his wife, Anne, of Queensbury, N.Y.; and several nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by his father Raymond.

The family wishes to extend their heart-felt thanks to Dr. Roger Austin and the entire staff of nurses and caregivers at The Hospice House for the compassion and wonderful care provided to Mike and his family during this difficult time.
