DURHAM — A local driver was arrested on a charge of operating under the influence following a single-vehicle crash on Route 136 early Saturday morning.

Lawrence Keene, 60, of Davis Road was driving south on Route 136 and lost control of his car, veered off the right shoulder just above the Davis Road intersection and struck a utility pole, Androscoggin County Deputy Sheriff Randy Williams said.

Keene escaped apparent injury, Williams said. Keene was booked at the Androscoggin County Jail and was later released on bail, a jail spokesman said. Williams estimated damage to Keene’s 2001 Chevrolet Cavalier at $5,500 in the 1:22 a.m. crash.
