NORWAY — A four-way contest for two seats on the Board of Selectmen will highlight this year’s annual town election.

Incumbent selectmen Bruce Cook, who serves as chairman this year, and Irene Millett will face opposition from Wesley Wentworth, a former library trustee and current member of the Budget Committee, and political newcomer and Greenwood Road resident Michael W. Twitchell.

The deadline to submit nomination papers for placement on the June 8 annual town election was Monday.

Additionally Donald Ware, longtime member of the Oxford Hills School Board of Directors and Library Trustee Hilary Ware have both taken out nomination papers for re-election to their boards.

Karen Ostin, who replaced Wesley Wentworth, who resigned from his library trustee position, has also taken out papers for re-election.

Library Trustee Charles Longley did not take out nomination papers as of Monday afternoon.

“There will be one vacancy on the library board that no one took papers out for,”‘ said Town Clerk Shirley Boyce after the deadline passed to submit nomination papers. Boyce said the vacancy could be filled with a write-in candidate.

Nominations papers had to contain signatures of at least 25 registered voters but no more than 100 signatures and be returned to her office by the filing deadline for the candidate’s name to be placed on the June 8 annual town meeting ballot.
