Work crews from Livermore Falls, Jay and Wilton clean Village View Street in Wilton on Wednesday. Three towns have worked out an agreement to keep tabs on the man-hours and equipment costs as crews take a joint approach to getting work done in each town. “It’s got to help. It’s saving everybody money,” Wilton equipment operator Jerry Whitney said. Whitney was driving the dump truck; Terry Greenleaf of Jay was running the sweeper and Warren Smith of Livermore Falls was driving the water truck. Both Jay and Livermore Falls streets have been swept and cleaned on previous work days.
Jay Public Works crew member Terry Greenleaf in the sweeper dumps a load of dirt into Wilton’s Public Works truck as driver Jerry Whitney looks on Wednesday. Public works employees from Livermore Falls, Jay and Wilton are cleaning Wilton’s roads this week. The joint effort started this winter to save each town money and free up other crew members to work on other projects instead of three of four workers from the same town working on the same projects.
